If you want to Empower Your Designers you should be using Viking CMS.
We built Viking CMS to solve a simple problem, but it has turned into so much more.
That problem was "How can we let designers do what they already want to do?"
Your content designers are already capable of making fantastic, engaging, interesting designs in HTML and CSS. They can already create interactive ads, make static single-page websites, create wonderful copy and visuals in Illustrator and create visual content in Photoshop. Yet when you put them in front of a typical enterprise-scale CMS, they find themselves severely limited, and unable to put any of that skill to use.
The typical CMS is built around a drag-and-drop interface that utilizes pre-formed content blocks of one form or another. Whether it is Wordpress VIP, some home cooked Drupal or Joomla, or an industry specific CMS like BLOX or Brightspot, they are all the same: "Here are the components we've already built, now move them around and adjust them"
Our idea was simple. We started by acknowledging the amount of HTML/CSS skill the typical content designer already had, and we put that to work for you. We built a server-side framework that did all the heavy lifting, so that your designers could do what they are good at, design.
Think of Viking CMS as having a front-end developer, and a back-end developer who work for free, so that your designers can design without having to worry about breaking anything else on the page. Our system takes care of all the modern front-end tasks for them, so they can just concentrate on content without having to consider the other things on the site. They can't break anything, and can write HTML/CSS/Javascript to their hearts content. There is no "framework" to learn, nothing. They can just do what they are good at.
The big surprise came with the development of highly capable AI systems that can generate HTML content. We realized we had a real ace-in-the-hole there. We've already developed an entire framework for incorporating raw code, and now that more and more designers are using AI to do their jobs (whether you like it or not, it's here), there is a huge need for a CMS that can swallow that content easily, sanitize it, firewall it, organize it, and protect the rest of your site from it. That is what Viking CMS truly is. It can take all that potentially worrisome code, and generate a page from it while keeping everything else on your site safe from it, without the intervention of a front-end or back-end developer.
If you are at the scale that requires more than just a basic Wordpress, and you want to allow your designers to do what they are best at, and if you want to exceed the performance metrics offered by Wordpress VIP and other big platforms, we think Viking CMS is right for you.
I'm Don Drury, and I created Viking CMS. I built a whole enterprise-scale CMS based on a need I saw working as a front-end developer within the largest media conglomerate in Oklahoma. They had spent 20 years trying to work around their CMS. They had hired a back-end developer, a front-end developer, 4 designers and still weren't able to do the basic things they wanted to do. I built Viking CMS and changed everything for them.
